Bio-Imaging
MRI scanner 9.4 T 310 mm
MRI tomography
The MRI laboratory of the NanoBioMedical Centre carries out projects related to research on laboratory animals such as mice and rats. The Agilent MRI scanner, with a working aperture diameter of 310 mm and a magnetic field induction of 9.4 T, enables accurate anatomical images of animals, as well as functional images using CINE and BOLD techniques.
We deal with, among other things:
- examining damaged cardiac muscles - Cardio MRI - and observing their healing process.
- examination of tissue oxygenation using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques
- tracking of contrast-labelled cells transplanted into an animal - cell tracking
- examination of theranostic agents serving as both contrast agents in imaging using T1 or T2 relaxation times and therapeutic agents
The MRI laboratory is equipped for inhalation anaesthesia and monitoring of animal vital signs during experiments. We also have appropriate cages for mice, rats and rabbits.
Equipment:
Gradient coils:
- coil with 210 mm internal diameter generating a field of 1 mT/m/A
- coil with 120 mm internal diameter generating a field of 2 mt/m/A
Transmitting and receiving coils
- birdcage coil with an external diameter of 210 mm - for tests on animals such as rats, rabbits
- birdcage coil with an external diameter of 120 mm - for rat and mouse tests
- Millipead coils with diameters of 30 mm and 40 mm - for testing biological objects (mice), allowing better resolution and signal-to-noise ratio compared to birdcage coils
- surface receiving coil - for the study of the animal brain
