Laboratory of Surface Science

Surface Science Laboratory focuses on the growth, structure and electronic/catalytic/magnetic properties of ultrathin metal oxide, nitride and sulfide films, as well as supported 2D materials. The studies are carried out under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS), low energy electron diffraction (LEED), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and magneto-optical Kerr effect measurements (MOKE). The members of the Laboratory are also designing and constructing UHV scientific equipment.

Research topics:

- ultrathin films and supported 2D materials;

- growth, structure and electronic/catalytic/magnetic properties.
