Laboratory of Nanoenhanced Biomedical Materials
Research Group specializing in interdisciplinary research on the design, synthesis, functionalization, and comprehensive characterization of nanomaterials and biomaterials intended for medical applications. The team integrates expertise in materials engineering, chemistry, physics, and biomedicine, enabling the development of innovative solutions that address contemporary scientific challenges in healthcare, including advanced wound dressings, antibacterial materials, and membranes for hemodialysis.
Scope of Activities:
- Development of a novel generation of nanocellulose-based wound dressings incorporating bioactive compounds and nanosilver aimed at promoting the healing of chronic wounds and exhibiting potent antibacterial properties.
- Fabrication of composite materials for tissue regeneration with the capability of controlled release of bioactive agents.
- Production and modification of hemodialysis membranes with enhanced selectivity and biocompatibility, designed to minimize the risk of complications associated with hemodialysis treatment.
