Chemical Laboratory provides all the necessary eqiupment for synthesis, functionalization and biofunctionalization of nanomaterials, as well as necessary preparation of those materials for physicochemical and biological properties evaluation. The chemical laboratory is equipped in more than 1000 various chemicals for synthesis of metallic, pollymeric, carbon-based, alloyed and hybrid nanomaterials, as well as their functionalization.
Preparation of nanomaterials
Equipment:
- Two fully transparent gloveboxes (two- and five-gloves long) for manipulation of substances at inert atmosphere (argon, nitrogen or vacuum) with manually operated sluices
- Muffle furnaces with heating up to 1100 oC and tube furnace with heating up to 1600 oC in controlled atmosphere
- Autoclaves with teflon insides of various volume for carrying out the synthesis of nanomaterials in elevated temperature and pressure
- Centrifuges of various speed (4000 to 28000 rpm)
- Centrifugal evaporator
- Rotary evaporators (Heidolph) with automatic temperature and speed controller, and manual vacuum controller
Differential Scanning Calorimeter DSC 8000 (Perkin Elmer)
- temperature range from -160°C to +600°C
- heating rates from 0.01 ºC to 200 ºC/min
- precision ±0.008°C
- measures heat-flow (energy) directly without the need for conversion
- the two furnaces are much lower in mass than a single furnace allowing much faster
- thermal response and faster cool down times
- high-pressure cell option enabling measurement of samples to 600 psi (41 bar)
UV/Vis/NIR Spectrophotometer LAMBDA 950 (Perkin Elmer)
- double beam
- double monochromator
- wide range of measured wavelengths - from 190 nm to 3300 nm
- UV/Vis resolution ≤ 0.05 nm
- NIR resolution ≤ 0.20 nm
- applications: the characteristics of compounds, quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis (purity, homogeneity), the characteristics of filters UV, VIS and NIR, and many other
